Council's role in road safety awareness

Dubbo City Council is proud to be a strong advocate of Local Government's role in road safety awareness.

As a long-term member of the Local Government Road Safety Program, Council works with the Roads and Traffic Authority and key road safety stakeholders to address behavioural issues affecting road safety in our road environment. This program has proven to be a highly effective approach to raising awareness about road safety in Dubbo community.

Commitment to the program is demonstrated by employment of a Road Safety Officer (RSO) for the past 14 years. The RSO has effectively implemented many road safety campaigns addressing road safety issues impacting on our community. Several campaigns have attracted national attention as role models for best practice and have been recognised with awards from key road safety stakeholders.
