WORKS AND SERVICES COMMITTEE – JUNE 2012
The development of a steering committee for the Barden Park Regional Centre of Excellence for Athletics will provide high-level oversight to the project as it moves into the delivery phase.
Dubbo City Council's Works and Services Committee last night endorsed the proposed development of a steering committee comprising of the Mayor, General Manager, Council staff, and representatives of various Dubbo and State athletic associations.
It comes after Council successfully applied for $3.77 million funding from the Federal Government's Regional Development Australia Fund.
Works and Services Committee Acting Chair, Councillor Richard Mutton, said the appointment of a steering committee would be a priority as Council moved to the project delivery phase of the Barden Park project.
"Council has already began discussions in regard to coordinating representatives from Dubbo District PSSA, Dubbo Combined Athletics, Athletics NSW and Little Athletics NSW," Cr Mutton said.
"Council will seek to have the Barden Park grandstand development application approved early 2013, with several more stages requiring input from the Steering Committee before construction commences in April 2013."
Council's Works and Services Committee further endorsed that the individuals and organisations that provided support for the Barden Park grant application process be thanked in writing.
