Australia Day means something different to everyone, but as Dubbo we celebrate our diversity, our community and the outstanding achievements of some of our City’s residents.

BBQ breakfast, prepared and served by Macquarie Rotary Club

Welcome and introduction:

  • Flag raising and national anthem
  • Welcome to Country by Dianne McNaboe
Mayoral address: Councillor Mathew Dickerson
Ambassador's address: Mr Peter Hadfield, OAM
  • Presentation of Woolworth Ambassador Pin
Australia Day Awards presentation:

  • Citizen of the Year
  • Young citizen of the Year
  • Sportsperson of the Year
  • Young Sportsperson of the Year
  • Services to Sports Award
  • Cultural Person of the Year.

Australia Citizenship Ceremony

  • Presided over by Councillor Mathew Dickerson
  • Up to 25 people from countries such as Philippines, Chile, Egypt, Britain, Sri Lanka, India, Italy, Pakistan, Zimbabwe, Denmark and China will become Australian citizens.

Conclusion of ceremony and commencement of activities and displays.

Family-friendly activities



  • Taronga Western Plains Zoo animal mobile 
  • Jumping castle and face painting
  • Pooka the Clown
  • Children’s activity table, including colouring, free flags and activity bags, stickers and temporary tattoos
  • Circus West will be roving throughout the crowd performing tricks
  • Fire and Rescue NSW display, including the”kitchen simulator” (dependant on weather) and trucks                           
  • Dubbo Rescue Squad display, including the “jaws of life” 
  • Royal Flying Doctor Service flight simulator 
  • Dance, gymnastic displays and entertainment by Dubbo Ballet Studio, Stepping Out Dance Factory, and RSL Youth Gymnasts 
  • Sing Australia 

Gold coin entry to the pool

From 10am, entry into the Dubbo Aquatic Leisure Centre is just a gold coin donation with all proceeds going to the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
