2016/2017 Report to Community

At the last Council meeting prior to the first Local Government Elections for Dubbo Regional Council, Administrator Michael Kneipp presented a report to the community.

Dubbo Regional Council

Since the Proclamation on 12 May, 2016 Dubbo Regional Council has been working to integrate the businesses and operations of the former Councils.

The regional economy continues to prosper with investment in new infrastructure which supports jobs and growth. Council also has an ongoing capital works program with many significant projects completed.

Developing the 2040 Community Strategic Plan will be a priority for the Council to guide future decisions and growth of the region.

Dubbo Regional Council is in a sound financial position and is well placed to deliver the priority infrastructure projects and services for the long-term benefit of the ratepayers, residents, businesses and the diverse communities of the Dubbo Regional Local Government Area.

The Region

The Dubbo Regional Council area is now home to more than 50,000 people spread across the City of Dubbo, the main centre of Wellington and a broad rural sector stretching across 7,500 square kilometres.

It is a rich and diverse community with a thriving economy and unique and exciting attractions.

Council Services

Dubbo Regional Council has continued to support a full range of services.

For the 2016/2017 financial year these services have included:

Stronger Communities Fund

Council received $10 million for the State Government for the Stronger Communities Fund. $1 million of this is allocated to community grants and $9 million is for major infrastructure and capital projects.
