OVERVIEW

The Community Grant Program is aimed at delivering a range of facilities, infrastructure and services to create stronger communities for local residents. 

Dubbo Regional Council has progressively been delivering the $1 million Community Grant Program since 2016, with the funding allocation released over three financial years:

  • $349,580 awarded for 23 projects in 2016-17 – Round 1
  • $332,940 awarded for 24 projects in 2017-18 – Round 2
  • $317,500 awarded for 23 projects in 2018-19 – Round 3

 

ROUND 3 FUNDING

The total funding available for Round 3 was $317,500.

78 applications were received from across the Dubbo Regional Local Government Area with a grant request of approximately $1.7 million.

The independent Grants Assessment Panel met on 9 July 2018 to consider all applications and recommended 23 projects to Dubbo Regional Council for funding. Council resolved at its Ordinary Meeting on 23 July 2018 to accept the Panel’s recommendations.

Round 3 (2018-19) is the final year of the Community Grants Program. All projects funded under the Community Grants Program must be completed by 31 July 2019.

 

GRANT ACQUITTAL

Grant recipient organisations must complete and return to Council the Community Grants Program Acquittal Form with four (4) weeks of project completion (grant funds being expended).

Photos of completed project works MUST be provided as part of the acquittal.

PROGRAM BACKGROUND INFORMATION

ELIGIBLE PROJECTS

Community Grant Program funding is aimed at delivering a range of facilities, infrastructure and services to create stronger communities for local residents.

Types of projects include (but are not limited to): the upgrade of club facilities, funding of sporting equipment, or providing tools and equipment to improve the delivery of community services.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

To be successful for funding, Community Grant Program projects had to meet the following criteria:

1. Deliver social, cultural, economic or environmental benefits to local communities.

2. Address an identified community priority.

3. Be well defined with a clear budget.

4. Demonstrate that any ongoing or recurrent costs of the project can be met by the community group once grant funding has been exhausted.

5. The organisation must demonstrate the capacity to manage funds and deliver the project successfully.

ASSESSMENT

A Stronger Communities Fund Grant Assessment Panel was formed to assess projects against the Program’s eligibility criteria and make recommendations to Dubbo Regional Council for consideration and approval of funding. The Panel comprised:

  • The Mayor Dubbo Region (or delegate).

  • The Member for Dubbo (or representative).

  • Representative from the NSW Department of Premier and Cabinet.

  • Other members, appointed by the Mayor of Dubbo Regional Council, as required.

  • An independent probity advisor, to advise the Panel on their deliberations and assessment process.
