Dubbo Sustainable City Expo and Science Festival

Council is the organiser of the 2017 Dubbo Sustainable City Expo and Science Festival to be held on Saturday 2 SeExpo_logo.JPGptember 2017 from 10 am until 2 pm at the Western Plains Cultural Centre.

The 12th annual Expo and Science Festival aims to provide information to the Dubbo and Wellington communities about how to live and work more sustainably, promote the wonders of science and highlight how science can help to achieve a sustainable future.

The event will feature:

  • Sustainable living exhibits from local companies and community groups with information on how to reduce household energy and water bills, create less waste, and secure our future
  • Opportunities for people and companies who are active in this space to showcase what they are doing to make a difference
  • Hands-on science exhibits to inspire and engage the local community about the wonders of science
  • Science Café – with morning tea, lunch and great coffee.
  • Plenty of kids’ activities and competitions to enter!

Register a Supporting Event

As a new element to the ever evolving Expo and Science Festival, Council would like to assist in promoting ‘sustainability or science related events’ happening across the local government area in the lead up to, and surrounding, Council’s annual event. If you can’t make this year's Expo and/or would like to promote an additional information night, workshop, tour, 100 mile dinner, market, film night, car boot sale, community gardening day, exhibition, school event, or the like, please download the Supporting Event Registration Form (PDF 371.6KB). Council’s Sustainability Coordinator will be in contact with you regarding your proposed event. All approved events will be promoted here.

Background Information

The Sustainability Expo started as a simple information night in 2006 - attracting 13 exhibitors and some 200 people.  The event has grown over the years and in 2016 attracted over 40 exhibitors and a crowd of almost 1000 people.
