Boil Water Notice lifted after contamination identified and removed

After a teleconference with NSW Public Health, Dubbo Regional Council Director of Technical Services Stewart McLeod advised this afternoon that the Boil Water Notice has been lifted.

“Following extensive investigations and testing carried out the source of the contamination has been identified.”

“A small number of roosting sparrows and nests were uncovered in one of the Myall Street reservoirs and have subsequently been removed,” he said.

“After flushing and chlorination, Council, in consultation with NSW Health, are pleased to say that the reticulated water supply system has been declared normal and suitable for human consumption,.“

“In coming weeks, further actions will be undertaken to safeguard against future contaminations of this kind,”

“I would like to thank the community for their patience during this time and appreciate the considerable inconvenience experienced by the community,” he said.
