Official opening of the Dubbo Sewage Treatment Plant
When: Tuesday, 1 March 2016
Where: On site at the Dubbo Sewage Treatment Plant, Boothenba Road, Dubbo
Time: 11 am
The Mayor of Dubbo in the company of Dubbo City Councillors, Council staff and guests from NSW Public Works, AECOM and Cockram Envico will conduct the official opening of the Dubbo Sewage Treatment Plant Augmentation on site.
The recently completed upgrade will serve an increasing population in Dubbo with a capacity of 55,000 people. It plays a vital role in keeping the Dubbo community safe and healthy and is an essential service largely taken for granted.
Council invested $23.5M into the upgrade which was completed on time.
A bird wading area has been constructed on site which has attracted migratory water birds and with the upgrade complete Council is also able to recommence tours for school groups.
The official opening will include an address by the Mayor of Dubbo, an overview of the history of the Dubbo Sewage Treatment Plant and outline of the cooperative approach taken in the construction.
An official plaque will be unveiled and an opportunity for media to join an optional tour of the plant.
