Community asked to pick design for Lunar Park play equipment
Dubbo Regional Council is inviting the community to help choose the new play equipment at Lunar Park from one of two possible designs.
“Council has narrowed down the selection to two options for play equipment and is now asking the community to make the final decision,” Manager Horticultural Services Ben Pilon said.
“A poll is being run on Dubbo Regional Council’s website from 24 October to 13 November 2016.”
“A paper-based poll will also be run in schools around Lunar Park and at Apollo House at the same time.”
“Council are offering a prize for one of the lucky contestants with a family pass for the Dubbo Aquatic Leisure Centre up for grabs.”
The replacement of the play equipment is part of a larger upgrade of Lunar Park.
“Council was successful in gaining funding as part of the Social Housing Community Improvement Fund which Council also matched giving an overall funding total of $100,000,” Mr Pilon said.
“Council consulted with Apollo House to initiate projects for the community within Lunar Park as part of the funding agreement.”
“After consultation with Aboriginal Elder Frank Doolan it was decided to install an Aboriginal meeting place around the existing steel structure in Lunar Park. This will include a semi-circled mounded grass area with seating which will create a meeting place for the community which can be used for all occasions.”
“Solar lighting will be installed within the park to improve visibility in the park and surrounding streets.”
“Council will also use the play equipment poll to ask residents what else they would like to see in the park which Council can then investigate further.”
