Council to install new look fence along Bligh Street
Western Plains Regional Council will install a new look fence along the river side of Bligh Street between Church Street
and Talbragar Street.
Council’s Manager Landcare Services Lynton Auld said the new fence will be a post and chain arrangement more suitable
for parking.
“This part of Bligh Street is unrestricted parking and has a lot of overflow parking from the Riverdale shopping centre
and the CBD,” Mr Auld said.
“The existing steel post fence is in quite poor condition caused as parking cars have accidentally knocked and damaged
the fence over time,” he said.
“The new ironbark post and chain arrangement will complement the adjoining Tracker Riley Cycleway and river corridor as
well as being more forgiving if inadvertently nudged by parking cars,” Mr Auld said.
Work
to replace the fence will commence on Monday 1 August 2016. Fencing
contractors will be working in 100 metre sections
at a time. Parking will still be available either side of the work area.
The new fence is expected to take one week to complete.
