Darling Street reopened to two way traffic
Darling Street between Talbragar Street and Church Street has been reopened to traffic in both directions as another section of the redevelopment is completed.
Dubbo City Council Manager of Works Services Ian Bailey said the most recent work on the western side of Darling Street included the complete reconstruction of the road and preparing new garden beds to complement the new street design.
“With the asphalt now in place the road can be safely re-opened to through traffic,” Mr Bailey said. “This also means the entries to the two carparks facing Darling Street (in front of the Council Civic Administration Building and next to the Carpet Court building) will be reopened.”
Mr Bailey said Council acknowledges the inconvenience to patrons of the Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre, customers of Carpet Court and other businesses in the vicinity.
“We would like to thank motorists using the temporary access to the carparks for driving carefully in this area and for all users of Darling Street who have been patient and considerate as the works are completed,” Mr Bailey said.
Line marking, signage and planting of the gardens will be done in early 2016 to complete Stage 5 of the Darling Street redevelopment. Work will then shift to Stage 6 between Wingewarra Street and Church Street to construct new centre medians and complete road reconstruction in that section.
The Darling Street Redevelopment is a significant project to renew aged infrastructure and create a functional street design that also improves traffic management, pedestrian and cyclist amenity.
