Dubbo branch library renovations on schedule

Renovations of the Macquarie Regional Library Dubbo Branch are progressing well with the new layout and design taking shape in preparation for a reopening on 4 July 2016.

Director of Macquarie Regional Library, John Bayliss said the refurbishment has been going smoothly and library services in the temporary location have been well maintained.

“The inside of the library building is starting to take shape with the new layout and design, a new circulation desk and returns area some of the more significant changes coming,” Mr Bayliss said.

“Painting is being completed progressively and new carpet will commence being laid next week.

“When the library reopens there will be two new meeting rooms, a new local studies collection room, new children’s and youth areas and more reading areas which will be welcomed by library members."

Library services at the temporary location near Mitre 10 will end on Tuesday 8 June 2016 in order to relocate the collection back to the Macquarie Street building.

“While the library will be closed from 8 June an extended loan period will be in place and members will be able to borrow more items,” Mr Bayliss said.

“Any items due back during the closure will also have fees waived allowing members to return items to the library after the re-opening."

All online services including renewals and access to e-books and resources will be maintained and homework help and assistance is also available by phoning (02) 6801 4501.
