Event Funding Applications Now Open

Applications for not-for-profit events being held across the Local Government Area are now open for funding from Dubbo Regional Council.

Dubbo Regional Council Promotions and Events Supervisor Lana Willetts said the event funding provides either financial or in-kind services to help build and grow a robust and sustainable events industry and drive visitor spend or economic growth.

There are two channels for event funding: the Event Development Fund and the Major Sponsor Program.

“The Event Development Fund offers financial assistance for events that will bring economic and/or social benefits to the LGA,” Ms Willetts said.

“The Major Event Sponsor Program offers in-kind assistance for Council services which may include hire costs, waste charges, line-marking, photocopying and other services provided by Council.”

“Council’s support for a range of high calibre events which have significant community appeal and can attract a large number of participants and spectators can be an economic stimulator for the centres of Dubbo and Wellington,” Ms Willetts said.

“Council has been providing funding for events since 2013. The Dubbo Stampede, which received three years of funding and is now one of NSW’s hallmark events, is an example of successful event development,” Ms Willetts said.

Two streams of funding are available under each channel with Stream 1 of each Channel available throughout the financial year and Stream 2 open now for events to be held in 2017.

All applications close 6 November 2016.
