Intersection to be closed while significant road work conducted

Dubbo Regional Council Director of Technical Services Ian Bailey said that the Fitzroy Street and Myall Street intersection will be closed to all traffic from Tuesday 3 January until Tuesday 24 January to repair sections of pavement that have reached the end of their useful life.

“This intersection has been a concern for both Council and the community for a period of time, and has been in the forward budget until funds could be made available,” Mr Bailey said.

“The intersection will be closed while Council undertakes road pavement reconstruction, and as it will take a couple of weeks to complete the work, it has been scheduled to be done in January so as to lessen the impact on the driving public.

“There will be a traffic management plan during the closure which includes a detour via Erskine Street, Bourke Street and River Street.

“Motorists are asked to please obey all directions to ensure the safety of road users and workers.

The closure will also affect the bus routes in the area and if anyone has any enquiries about these please contact Rebecca Hodges at Dubbo Buslines on 6882 2900.

“Council realises that this is a lengthy closure, but is also pleased to be able to address this segment of the road which has received a number of customer service requests in recent times,” Mr Bailey said.

Dubbo Regional Council apologises for any inconvenience that this road closure may cause and thanks the community for their patience.
