Council Administrator Michael Kneipp said the annual Australia Day Awards promoted and recognised outstanding examples of citizenship and achievement.

"The region has no shortage of possible nominees with a number of residents having excelled in their chosen fields. What better way to give them a pat on the back than to honour and recognise them with a nomination for an Australia Day Award," Mr Kneipp said.

Nominations for the Dubbo and Wellington awards close at 5pm 6 January 2017.

The Awards will be presented at the Australia Day celebrations in Dubbo at Victoria Park and in Wellington at Cameron Park on Thursday, 26 January 2017.
