Time running out for nominations of Senior Citizen of the Year

Time is running out to nominate an inspiring senior from the Dubbo community to be named the 2016 Senior Citizen of the Year.

Mayor of Dubbo Councillor Mathew Dickerson said the Senior Citizen of the Year could come from any part of the Dubbo community.

“Previous Senior Citizen of the Year winners have been active in a wide range of volunteer and professional organisations,” Councillor Dickerson said.

“The last four Senior Citizens of the Year; Helen Logan, Edwin Mortimore, Margaret Moon and Colin Hepper, have each made outstanding contributions to Dubbo in different fields.

“Nominees for the 2016 Award can come from any sector of the community and can be made by any individual or organisation. The nominee may have been a long standing member of a local service club, held executive positions in community support roles or simply shown wonderful dedication to a particular profession or cause.

“This is a prestigious award for the Dubbo community which singles out a person aged 55 or older who has demonstrated outstanding citizenship and achievement. I encourage anyone thinking of making a nomination to complete one/"

Nominations are open until 5pm, Friday 11 March 2016. Nomination forms and guidelines are available from Council’s Civic Administration Building, the Western Plains Cultural Centre, the Dubbo Branch of the Macquarie Regional Library, Dubbo Neighbourhood Centre and Council’s website www.dubbo.nsw.gov.au.
