Wellington Cemetery Damage Result of Wet Weather

Residents visiting the Wellington Cemetery are being advised that continued wet weather experienced during the past month is having an impact on the site.
The use of machinery to dig and fill gravesites is unfortunately causing damage to the lawn and in some areas creating muddy patches.
Western Plains Regional Council Acting Civil Services Manager Don Cottee said the use of the machinery was essential with some damage being unavoidable due the level of water saturation.
“Residents can be assured that all due care is being taken when moving the equipment in and around the site,” Mr Cottee said.
“A delivery of top soil has been arranged to repair damaged areas. However, due to more rain this week there has been some further delay.”
“Council staff will do their best to ensure that this is rectified as soon as possible,” Mr Cottee said.
Cemeteries in Dubbo also have a number of wet patches due to ongoing rain and any ground repair work will be carried out as required.
