Dubbo has once again proven it has the capacity to host high level events with another major sporting events happening this weekend with more to come.

The Little Athletics NSW Region Three Championships will be held at Barden Park this Saturday and Sunday and the NSW Cycling Junior State Track Championships is on at Victoria Park No. 1 Oval next month.

“These are both events of state significance and hosting them is a great boost for our sporting community and an excellent chance for locals to see junior sports at state level,” Dubbo Regional Council Administrator Michael Kneipp said.

“Barden Park and No. 1 Oval are premier sporting facilities and a lot of work has gone into ensuring they have the capacity to host events such as these.”

“With hundreds of competitors taking part the championships will attract thousands of people to the region with the athletes and their families converging on the city providing an economic boost.”

“As well as the financial benefits involved in hosting them, including the number of visitors it will attract, it also allows Dubbo to showcase the many fine sporting facilities on offer which Council has been investing in improving over the past decade.”

“Members of the public are welcome to come along and watch the events with free entry to Barden Park and a $5 per car fee for No. 1 Oval.”

Due to hot weather the Little Athletics NSW Region Three Championships will be starting at 7.30am on Saturday and Sunday instead of 8.30am as originally scheduled.
