Coal Seam Gas Exploration and Development Community Consultation
Council is seeking the community’s views and standpoints in respect to Coal Seam Gas exploration and whether Coal Seam Gas exploration and development should be supported in the Dubbo Regional Local Government Area.
Mayor of the Dubbo Regional Council, Ben Shields said Council wants to hear the views of the community formally through the submission process to be able to establish a firm position on Coal Seam Gas.
“This is an opportunity for the community to voice their opinion on Coal Seam Gas exploration and production so Council can make an informed decision,” Councillor Shields said.”
“Ultimately, any application for CSG exploration or production is a State Government decision but it is important to establish the community’s view on the topic and for Council to adopt a position to ensure this is considered in any future proposals,” Councillor Shields said.
The former Dubbo City Council in 2015 adopted a Position Paper for Coal Seam Gas. A copy of this Position Paper can be obtained here.
Written and electronic submissions in respect of Coal Seam Gas exploration and development in the Dubbo Regional Local Government Area are welcome up until 5pm on 15 June 2018
“We are asking the community to tell us if they would support CSG exploration and production in the Dubbo Regional LGA and provide reasons for their response,” Councillor Shields said.
“With the community feedback Council will then be able to consider the information in determining a position on CSG,” he said.
Submissions can be made online here, by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or in writing to PO Box 81 Dubbo NSW 2830. Submissions are welcome up until 5pm on Friday 15 June 2018.
