20 Nov 2019   SMILE, IT’S CHRISTMAS LAUNCHES
You’re invited to the biggest street party of the year, with the launch of Smile, it’s Christmas in Dubbo’s CBD this Thursday 21 November. The annual celebration marks the start of the official Christmas season in the Region. This year Council is celebrating the buy local message with local business owners adorning the CBD flags, free kids games and face painting, and a visit from Santa.

Local residents at Stuart Town can now access up to 60,000 litres of non-potable water a day for stock and domestic use from a new bore providing water for the village.
20 Nov 2019   TREATED EFFLUENT SETTLES THE DUST OF AN AGE OLD PROBLEM
Dubbo Regional Council (DRC) has installed and commissioned a new pump transfer station at the Dubbo Sewage Treatment Plant that will see the rapid fill and turnaround of water carting trucks used for dust suppression at roadworks and land development sites around the region.

In support of local businesses in the Dubbo Region and off the back of the #BuyfromtheBush movement, Dubbo Regional Council is calling on businesses in the Dubbo Region to register to have their postage paid by Dubbo Regional Council in the lead up to Christmas.

The $8.5 Wellington Aquatic Leisure Centre has been officially opened with hundreds attending the event and joining home-town swimming legend Ben Austin in swimming laps in the new pool.
15 Nov 2019   TEST DRILLING UNDERWAY IN WELLINGTON FOR ADDITIONAL WATER
After an extensive procurement process, a successful supplier has been engaged to undertake drilling and exploration services to locate new water sources for Wellington in response to the worsening drought situation currently gripping the region and NSW. Wellington currently draws all of its water from the river. A ground water licence exists for Wellington but the town does not have a usable bore for potable (drinking) water. The test drilling currently underway is critical in the hunt for an adequate bore water supply as close as possible to the water treatment plant.

7 Nov 2019   YOUTH MURAL DELIGHT FROM DESIGN TO PAINT
Hannah Austin and Cameron Blackman think it’s pretty cool that a blank wall at Dubbo Aquatic Leisure Centre has been transformed by the new mural of bright colours and bold lines. The Year 8 students at Dubbo College Delroy Campus were among 21 local students whose designs inspired the new community art installation and over two days helped paint the mural, encouraged and guided by Sydney-based artist Mulga.

Dubbo Regional Council (DRC) has endorsed the proposal to adjust the level 4 water restriction activities following considerable feedback from community and industry. Dubbo Regional Council’s Chief Executive Officer Michael McMahon said the revisions are more relevant and easier to understand for residents and business operators.

Dubbo Regional Council is devastated to report that ‘Arthur’ the rhino, which usually stands in Wellington, has had his horn poached. Council staff were made aware that a member of the public illegally vandalized Arthur, poaching his horn, and leaving the rhino with extensive damage.

The new-look Wellington Aquatic and Leisure Centre will open to the public with a free family fun day on Saturday, November 16, 2019. The open day, from 10am, will highlight the region’s redeveloped Aquatic Centre including a new eight-lane Olympic Pool, heated learn-to-swim pool, splash pad area, along with brand new amenities, kiosk and club room.

Mayor of the Dubbo Region Ben Shields will officially open the new playground at Bicentennial Park, Wellington. The new playground is situated on the South East corner of Bicentennial Park in Montefiores, Wellington which is frequented by many nearby residents with young families and local sporting clubs.
