Construction of the new $96,000 Muller Park playground starts this week (5 December) with the community space expected to be ready for use by Christmas.

The Muller Park revamp has a strong focus for all ages and abilities and will offer accessible play elements including climbers, swings, rockers and twistas, park furniture including a bubbler and seating which are connected by accessible pathways and a disabled carpark on Park Street.

The new playground is part of Dubbo Regional Council’s asset maintenance and Improvement plan that was boosted earlier this year by Council’s $1 million investment to increase shade and sun protection at 10 local parks over two years.

Design of the Muller Park playground and its location will also capture natural shade from existing park trees and be complemented with advance tree plantings when drought conditions ease.

The $1 million Playground Shade and Facilities Fund has been funded under Section 94 (Old Plan 1998) Public Open Space Embellishment by developments in Dubbo.

Work at Muller Park follows successful completion of the Dubbo Regional Adventure Playground in Minokamo Way and playgrounds in Wellington including Lions Park and Bicentennial Park.

The New Year will see construction begin to redevelop the playground at Dubbo’s Theresa Maliphant Park opposite Dubbo Base Hospital.
