Appetite for NRL shows what it means to Dubbo
It has been fascinating to see the response to my Mayoral Minute to bring an NRL match to Dubbo. There is no doubt whatsoever that Dubbo is a sporting town and the enthusiasm to see a match here is incredible.
Local media a critical service for regional NSW
There is a real crisis going on in regional Australia right now. In this case it’s not just the drought, not just population decline, not only inept politicians, not just the bushfires or social disadvantage. I’m referring to the demise of an essential service to regional cities and towns - local media.
NRL Match key to helping region recover from Coronavirus
On Monday night I tabled a Mayoral Minute to Council proposing to bring an NRL game to Dubbo in the near future. It might surprise a few people that the most unsporting Councillor to be elected would be the one who would drive this but despite not knowing my football racquet from my tennis stick, I know just how good it would be for our region.
Huge Challenges and huge benefits in four years since merger
This month marks the fourth anniversary of the merger between Dubbo City and Wellington Councils. There certainly has been a lot of challenges merging the two organisations, but one thing is certain, the region is in much better condition four years on than what it was pre-merger.
New pedestrian bridge to add value to Wellington's Cameron Park
You may notice a new sign in Cameron Park next time you go for a walk. This very exciting addition is designed to draw attention to Council’s plans for a new pedestrian bridge across the Bell River.
