Staff at Dubbo Regional Council’s Old Dubbo Gaol have been secretly preparing for a very secretive event – and you’re invited to attend. Prohibition at the Yard is the Gaol’s own interpretation of Australia’s crackdown and regulation of alcohol consumption in the 19th and 20th centuries. Come find the secret bars and hideaways within the walls of the Old Dubbo Gaol, while dressed in your best 1920s costume. The Gaol’s Operations Coordinator Julie Webster says staff are ready for what’s expected to be a big night of fun and frivolity on 29 February.

In 2020, Australia’s leading Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander performing arts company, Bangarra Dance Theatre, will tour its multi award-winning production of Bennelong to regional locations across New South Wales and Western Australia with Dubbo’s performance on Saturday 7 March at 7.30 pm.
29 Jan 2020   WATER SAVING REBATES TO BE EXTENDED
Residents who have bought a pool cover, installed a dual flush toilet, or installed a rain water tank after 1 November 2019 could now be eligible for rebates, under Dubbo Regional Council’s Water Saving Rebate (WSR) Scheme. The rebates are already available for 3-star or higher WELS water shower heads and irrigation timers, of up to 50% of the purchase price.

The golf course at the Dubbo Golf Club is set for some of the biggest names in women’s golf, for the NSW Women’s Golf Open on the 27 February – 1 March 2020. The event, which is one of only two in Australia for the European Qualifiers, is expected to draw thousands of people.

Dubbo Regional Council is urging residents in Dubbo, Wellington and Geurie to take extra water-saving steps after weekend rain and dust storms increased turbidity in the Macquarie River. Manager water supply and sewerage Stephen Carter said turbidity had increased treatment process times and residents might experience low water pressure for some days.

Paul Featherstone has been instrumental in emergency management for events such as the 1997 Thredbo Disaster, the Bali Bombing, the Waterfall Rail Disaster in 2003, and the Beaconsfield Mine Rescue. He is Wellington’s Australia Day Ambassador for 2020.
