AUSTRALIA DAY AWARDS

Recipients of Australia Day Awards in 2021

The Australia Day Awards are proudly presented by the Australia Day Council of NSW and administered by local Councils. The Awards promote and recognise outstanding examples of citizenship and achievement during the current year, and/or outstanding service over a number of years to a local community or over and above normal employment duties.

Council provides awards for outstanding citizens, sports persons and cultural person in the Local Government Area, as part of the national Australia Day Awards.


DUBBO NOMINATIONS

The Australia Day Award categories are:

  • Citizen of the Year
  • Senior Citizen of the Year
  • Young Citizen of the Year
  • Sportsperson of the Year
  • Young Sportsperson of the Year
  • Services to Sports Award
  • Cultural Person of the Year

Nominations for 2025 awards are not yet open.


WELLINGTON NOMINATIONS

The Australia Day Award categories are:

  • Citizen of the Year
  • Senior Citizen of the Year
  • Young Citizen of the Year
  • Sportsperson of the Year
  • Young Sportsperson of the Year
  • Community Event of the Year
  • Community Service/Achievement Award

Nominations for 2025 awards are not yet open.

DUBBO DAY AWARDS

Dubbo Day Awards recognise volunteers who, without expectation of reward or praise, go about their lives helping others and organisations which are focused on improving the quality of living for individuals and the community as a whole.


NOMINATION

A selection committee comprising the Mayor and members of the Dubbo community will assess all nominations in strict confidence.

Nominations for the Tony McGrane Public Service Award are closed to the public, nominees are determined and awarded by the Committee.

Nominations for Dubbo Day Awards will open late 2024.

DUBBO REGIONAL SPORTS AWARDS

The Dubbo Regional Sports Council, the Federal Member for Parkes, Mr Mark Coulton MP, and the Federal Member for Calare, Mr Andrew Gee MP are once again joining forces to recognise the sports people of Dubbo and Wellington through its annual awards night. In its 22nd year, the Dubbo Regional Sports Awards will recognise the outstanding achievements of Dubbo and Wellington's most talented sports people of 2024 and also celebrates the important people behind the scenes.


NOMINATION

Nominate any members of a sporting association who meet the below criteria in any of these three categories:

  • Community Contribution to sport by organisations, (eg Lions, Rotary, Apex), media organisations, or sponsors to a particular sporting event, facility or for continuous support over a minimum of five years.

  • Individual Contribution to sport by an individual including coaches, referees/umpires and administrators with a minimum of five years service.

  • Individual or Team Achievement such as national or state representation as a players, coach, referee/umpire or official, NSW country/state/national competition success, or high-level single performance, (eg Australian or state record).

Nominations for this award are not yet open for 2024.
