Overview
Be empowered leading into the Local Government Elections on Saturday, 14 September 2024. Whether you are planning to vote or are a potential candidate considering running for Council, we have developed resources to help you prepare.
Four years have passed since our last Local Government Elections in 2021, where we voted on the ward system introduced with the amalgamation. The Dubbo electorate voted with a resounding 74.59% majority to abolish. Voters will now have an opportunity to vote for any candidates nominated for the 2024 election.
Voting in this election is an opportunity to determine 11 representatives who form the elected body that governs Council across various aspects of our Local Government Area. A key responsibility of all elected councillors is to act in the interests of our residents and ratepayers through open, transparent and informed decision making.

Election Signage across the region
If you wish to report election material that does not meet NSW Election Campaign material rules, please contact Customer Experience on 6801 4000.

Campaign Do's
Signs and materials can be displayed if:
- On private land with owner's written permission, including boundary walls/fences
- Fixed to a table or stall on a footpath or other public place the on day of polling
- Electronic signs MUST include name/address of the authorised person
- Displayed between 5 August 2024 until 6pm, 14 September 2024
Candidates have a week to remove signage after 14 September 2024.

Campaign Don'ts
Signs should not be:
- Larger than 0.8m2 (Larger requires Development Application)
- Placed on premises or structures owned, occupied or managed by Council, State Government or Crown
- Located on a road or related area, including trees unless the poster is on a registered vehicle
- Within 6m of an entrance to a voting centre, including if heard loudspeakers or broadcasting devices
- Flyers are placed on windscreens of vehicles
- Circulated before 5 August 2024
- Circulated after 6pm, 14 September 2024
