“Every dollar spent locally is the gift that keeps on giving. If you spend $100 on a gift at a business that is owned and operated by a local resident then $71 remains right here in the local economy,” Dubbo Regional Council Mayor Josh Black said.
“If you shop at a locally operated franchise, then $52 remains in the community. Only $4 out of your $100 online spending will remain in our community when you shop at an online business. That is a big loss for your friends, family and our region.
To make you present gifting even easier, you can purchase a My Dubbo Region Gift Card, allowing the recipient to choose what they want from over 150 local businesses.
“Shopping local this season keeps our towns and city vibrant, our business thriving and our community connected,” Clr Black said.
Christmas trees have been installed in the Dubbo and Wellington CBD’s this year, with some added decorations to make them that much brighter. Flags are also going up, while garlands will be hung at key areas in the Dubbo CBD as well.
This season the popular spend local prize draw is also back, allowing you to win a share of $5000 just by spending $30 at a local store.
“It’s really simple to take part in. All you have to do is look out for the sign at participating stores, scan the QR code and fill in the details.
“It’s a great opportunity for a chance to win something back when you shop local,” Clr Black said.
