DUBBO ARTIST SHOWCASES FIRST SOLO EXHIBITION
HomeGround and Dubbo-based artist Jennifer Moore will showcase her first solo exhibition titled A Journey. The exhibition will be on display in the Western Plains Cultural Centre from the 8 November 2025 - 22 February 2026.
Jennifer’s work is predominately in the field of abstract and lyrical expressionism and has been involved in several group exhibitions and competitions prior to the HomeGround program.
For Jennifer the physical act of painting is an expression of wisdom and experience; each work a record of life lived, and being lived. Her work utilises a variety of painting techniques with palette knives, brushes, sponges, sticks, and her hands.
She creates bold compositions, painting with a combination of chance and intention with each mark conveying an aspect of the artist’s physical and psychological energy.
“My exhibition A Journey is a deeply personal reflection into how we connect with our subconscious and how this guides us through life,” Jennifer said.
“I’ve gained unexpected confidence in myself both as an individual but more importantly as an artist through participation in the HomeGround program.”
“My first solo exhibition has been somewhat of a compelling and powerful experience. I now realise I can create a future as a working artist by using this experience to guide me through the process.”
“It’s given me the desire to pursue new opportunities for exhibiting my work and have confidence that I can communicate with a variety of art professionals,” Jennifer said.
The HomeGround program focuses on emerging artists who are wanting to expand their skills and have the potential to extend their practice and benefit from the experience of working alongside curatorial staff within a professional gallery.
HomeGround is a professional development program sponsored by Wingewarra Dental and supported by Orana Arts. Through the Dubbo Regional Council SPARC Cultural Plan, Council is committed to supporting the development of a strong visual arts sector. HomeGround specifically supports the growth of regional artists.
The exhibition will be officially opened on Saturday 8 November with an artist talk at 2pm at the Western Plains Cultural Centre. The artist talk is free to attend.
