Eumungerie streets upgraded through Village Street Sealing program

Work is under way to upgrade two heavily used streets in Eumungerie from gravel to bitumen seal as part of the Village Street Sealing Program.

Balladooran Street, between Cobboco Road and Emu Street, and Emu Street, between Railway Street and Balladooran Street, are currently undergoing preparation and drainage work.

Work commenced in late-March and will continue for approximately six weeks, weather permitting.

Mayor of the Dubbo Region Ben Shields said the sealing was an important step for growing Eumungerie.

“Village residents appreciate their roads being sealed and this is another exciting step forward,” Councillor Shields said.

“Our villages are critical to the success of the entire region. They offer a different lifestyle to living in Dubbo or Wellington and it can be another selling point to attract new residents.

“Residents in our villages don’t ask for much but we know they are very eager for their roads to be sealed to reduce dust and improve conditions.”

Council is in year four of the Village Street Sealing Program focusing on getting all street segments at Eumungerie, Brocklehurst, Ballimore and Wongarbon sealed.

“This was a great initiative of Councillor Greg Mohr to assist the residents of these villages and has proved to be a major success,” Councillor Shields said.
