Wellington will be promoted to a national audience on Saturday when Weekend Sunrise weatherman James Tobin will be in town to promote the region.

Between 7am and 10am, Sunrise Weekend hosts Basil Zempilas and Monique Wright will cross to Cameron Park, where Mr Tobin will be showcasing the wonderful experiences, events and natural attractions of Wellington.

To support the event, Council will host a free sausage sizzle between 7am and 8.30am and there will be the chance to see behind the scenes of the live crosses.

Representatives from Wellington Caves, Wellington Boot, Burrendong Botanic Garden and Arboretum, Farmers Browns Eggs and Love Merino are among those who will be interviewed by Mr Tobin.

Mayor of the Dubbo Region Ben Shields said it was a great chance for Wellington to promote itself across Australia.

“Weekend Sunrise has a national audience of almost 250,000 people so this is a priceless promotion for Wellington,” Councillor Shields said.

“I would love to see everyone get down to Cameron Park on Saturday to create a really fun, vibrant atmosphere.”

The visit from Weekend Sunrise is a great promotion for the region ahead of the autumn school holidays and coincides with a $250,000 destination marketing campaign that is a partnership between Dubbo Regional Council, Destination NSW, Taronga Western Plains Zoo, Old Dubbo Gaol and Wellington Caves.

The campaign began on 22 October 2018 and includes advertising across commercial television’s catch-up TV, social media, print, Youtube and digital mediums.

On Sunday morning James Tobin and the Weekend Sunrise crew will travel to Tooraweehna, near Gilgandra, and broadcast from Emu Logic to showcase one of the many experiences available in the Great Western Plains.

Great Western Plains is a joint partnership between the Dubbo Region Council and Councils from Gilgandra, Coonamble, Narromine, Warrumbungles and Warren.
