Council Acting General Manager Commences

Dubbo Regional Council has welcomed Michael McMahon as General Manager who will commence duties on Friday 1 December 2017.

Mr McMahon joins Dubbo Regional Council from Burwood Council where he has been General Manager since October 2010. His previous experience includes General Manager of Wagga Wagga City Council from October 2007 to February 2008 and General Manager of the City of Canada Bay, Ryde City Council and Waverley Councils from 1993 to 2006

Dubbo Regional Council Mayor Councillor Ben Shields welcomed Mr McMahon saying he has extensive experience to lead the organisation through an important period while recruitment for a new General Manager is undertaken.

“Michael’s experience in local government and in business will ensure Council continues to deliver the very best services for the community,” Councillor Shields said.

“He is highly respected having led large metropolitan Councils as well as overseeing the recruitment of a new General Manager for Wagga Wagga City Council,” he said.

Mr McMahon’s immediate priorities will be to receive detailed briefings with the Mayor, Councillors and Senior staff on current major projects and services as well as meeting Council staff.

Councillor Shields said Mr McMahon is particularly familiar with local government processes and the business of Council will continue unabated.

“Many projects have already been commenced by this new Council including addressing Social Justice, the establishment of the Wellington Town Assembly and investigations into new facilities for the Dubbo Region,” Councillor Shields said.

“I welcome Michael to the Dubbo Region and look forward to continuing to progress the projects initiated by the new Council while the recruitment of a General Manager is undertaken,” he said.
