Council continues to reach out to the whole Local Government Area
Dubbo Regional Council has scheduled the March 2018 and July 2018 monthly Council meeting in Wellington to help ensure residents, businesses and ratepayers in and around Wellington have access to formal Council meetings.
Dubbo Regional Council Mayor, Councillor Ben Shields said scheduling Council meetings in Wellington was an important decision that helps build transparency and openness.
“The monthly Council meetings are public meetings where Councillors make decisions about Council priorities and projects and it is important that the public has access to these meetings,” Councillor Shields said.
“At each Council meeting there is an opportunity for the public to raise issues and to address Council through Public Forum. Conducting these meetings in Wellington is one way to ensure the Wellington community can address Council in person and raise matters that Council needs to be aware of,” he said.
At its meeting on Monday 9 October Council also resolved to form a Wellington Community Awards and Events Committee and representatives from the Wellington community will be included on the Aquatic Leisure Centres Working Party, the Rural Consultative Working Party and the Cultural Facilities Committee. Council will invite nominations for these respective Committees in the near future.
“All Councillors have real enthusiasm to make sure Wellington is part of one regional community,” Councillor Shields said. “Ensuring there is fair representation and actively reaching out to the community will strengthen the whole of the Dubbo Region,” he said.
