Dubbo welcomes Destination tourism office

Dubbo Regional Council Administrator Michael Kneipp has welcomed the announcement that Dubbo will host the new office of Destination Country and Outback NSW, one of six Destination Networks formed under Destination NSW.

Mr Kneipp said the announcement recognises the importance of Dubbo and the region to the strategic growth of NSW.

“Dubbo is the obvious choice for the Country and Outback Destination Network headquarters and Council and RDA Orana have worked together to ensure the office is located in the heart of NSW,” Mr Kneipp said.

“Dubbo is a City that welcomes new opportunities and new business enthusiastically and today’s announcement is welcome news,” Mr Kneipp said.

“Geographically Dubbo is perfectly located for such an organisation and certainly our airport with flights to Broken Hill, Cobar, Newcastle, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane as well as excellent road and rail connectivity would have been decisive factors when considering locations,” Mr Kneipp said.

Dubbo Regional Council worked with Regional Development Australia Orana to facilitate office space and facilities in the Dubbo CBD.

RDA Orana Executive Officer Megan Dixon said that sharing office space with the new organisation made good sense.

“RDA Orana’s goal is to advance the region; as will be the focus of the organisation, with a special focus on tourism. Sharing an office space will create efficiencies for both organisations and enable us to share regional intelligence around issues impacting businesses across the region.”

“The bid is not just a win for Dubbo, but a win for the region,” Mrs Dixon said.

Three direct jobs will be generated and Dubbo and the Region will also benefit from access to professionals focused on improving tourism outcomes for Country and Outback destinations.
