Event Funding Applications Now Open

Dubbo Regional Council is inviting applications for funding from not-for-profit events being held between 1 July 2017 and 30 June 2018.

Dubbo Regional Council Promotions and Events Supervisor Lana Willetts said two channels of funding, the Event Development Fund and the Major Event Sponsor Program are now open for application from events held in the Local Government Area.

Established in 2013, the Event Development Fund offers financial assistance to local events to help build, grow and create sustainability event activity.

“One of the fund’s success stories is the Dubbo Stampede. The annual event is now considered one of NSW’s hallmark events, attracting more than 2,000 participants drawn from all corners of the Nation,” Ms Willetts said.

Last year, Council introduced the Major Event Sponsor Program. Aimed at attracting and retaining high-yielding events and returning economic benefits to the region, the channel provides in-kind assistance, such as hire of Council sporting fields or event venues.

“The Major Event Sponsor Program supports event activity that builds on visitor spend and overnight stay” Ms Willetts said.

“Festivals, sporting events and conferences attracting significant visitation to the region can apply for funding under this channel.”

Applications for funding under Stream 1 of each channel are open until 30 June 2018.

In September, Council will invite applications under Stream 2 of both channels. In 2016/2017 Stream 2 of the Major Event Sponsor Program provided in-kind assistance to the value of $64,256.74.

Council’s investment returned more than $3M to the LGA.
