Free child car-seat checks for parents and carers this Saturday
Parents, grandparents and carers are being encouraged to have their child car restraints checked and/or installed at Dubbo Regional Council’s free ‘Seatbelt Saturday’ event on Saturday 25 November 2017 to ensure their children have the best chance of surviving an accident.
Council’s Road Safety Officer, Jayne Bleechmore said free checks would be available at the Dubbo Regional Council’s car park on Darling Street, Dubbo. The free checks and installations will commence at 9.00 am and finish at noon.
“This is a great opportunity for parents and carers to check they are using a compliant ‘Australian Standards’ approved child restraint appropriate for the child’s height,” Ms Bleechmore said.
“Equally important is how the restraint has been secured to the car seat. The road can be a dangerous environment and correctly fitted child restraints give little ones the best chance of surviving a crash.”
“Parents and carers can take advantage of this free service and have all their child restraints checked and/or have new car seats properly installed and certified by two Roads and Maritime Services authorised and professional local fitters who will not only check or fit restraints but answer any questions parents and carers might have as well.” she said.
“Many parents and carers want to ensure they are doing the right thing for their children and ‘Seatbelt Saturdays’ are one way council can help them update their knowledge and give them peace of mind.”
Due to the popularity of this free event, bookings are essential. To secure your booking please phone council’s Road Safety Officer on 6801 4000. No checks and installations can be done without a prior booking.
