Nominations closing soon for Dubbo Day Awards
Dubbo Regional Council Mayor Ben Shields has urged the people of Dubbo to nominate a citizen who makes an outstanding contribution to the community for a Dubbo Day Award.
“Dubbo's greatest asset is undoubtedly its people - and the Dubbo Day Awards are a chance for us to recognise residents who have contributed to the fabric of our society by consistently going above and beyond to help others in the community,” Councillor Shields said.
“Volunteers are an essential part of our community and most people know someone who gives their time to make Dubbo a better place,” he said.
“There is no shortage of possible nominees and there is no better way to give them a pat on the back than to honour and recognise them with a nomination for a Dubbo Day Award,” Councillor Shields said.
The Dubbo Day Awards are presented annually to mark the anniversary of Dubbo's gazettal as a village on 23 November 1849. Past recipients have come from a wide variety of community sectors who, without expectation of reward or praise, are committed to helping others and organisations which are focussed on improving the quality of living for individuals and the community as a whole.
Nominations close at 5pm on Wednesday, 25 October, 2017.
An online nomination form will be available on the Dubbo Regional Council Website or the form can be downloaded, completed and returned to Council.
A ceremony for the winners will be held on 23 November at the Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre.
