Algona Playground Ready for Play
Dubbo Regional Council is pleased to announce that the Algona Playground in Rosewood Grove, West Dubbo is now completely renewed and ready for play, just in time for the Summer school holidays.
The playground design was voted on by the community through a social media poll. The winning design by Imagination Play was selected with overwhelming popularity.
The design includes:
Naughts & Crosses Panel
Chain Net Climber
Basket Ball Tower
Mayor of the Dubbo Region Ben Shields said the renewed playground is a great asset for the Rosewood Grove community.
“This new playground will be perfect for the recent influx of young families coming into the Rosewood Grove area. The design is bright, fun and has a great variety of accessible play components, I commend the community on selecting such an inclusive design,” said Councillor Shields.
The Algona Park redevelopment also included the installation of a fully automated irrigation system, solar lighting and accessible path street art and seating.
The Algona Park redevelopment project was made possible due to the Stronger Country Communities Fund.
Member for Dubbo Troy Grant said the playground will provide a vital piece of recreational infrastructure for children in West Dubbo.
“The NSW Government is delighted that we have been able to provide funding for a quality play area for kids in the western part of the city,” he said.
“The Stronger Country Communities Fund is living up to its name by providing these kinds of facilities that allow areas for children to go and play. There are so many social and health benefits that come from communal play areas such as this.
“The park looks terrific and Dubbo Regional Council staff should be commended for the work done in making the project come to fruition.”
