Applications now open for Bodangora Community Benefit Fund Round 3

Applications are now open for Round 3 of the Bodangora Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund to support projects that benefit the Wellington community.

Dubbo Regional Council Mayor Councillor Ben Shields said eligible not-for-profit incorporated groups in the Wellington district can apply for up to $5,000 in funding.

“The funding is available from a Planning Agreement made between Infigen – Bodangora Wind Farm and Council with $50,000 in development contributions being directed to a Community Benefit Fund annually for the first 25 years of operation.”

“In the third round of funding $25,000 is available to be distributed to community projects through the application process,” Councillor Shields said.

To be successful for funding community projects must have a social, cultural, economic or environmental benefit to local communities in the Wellington district.

An assessment panel made up of the members of the Bodangora Wind Farm Community Consultation Committee and Councillors David Grant and Anne Jones will assess all applications against the criteria in the funding guidelines.

Mayor Ben Shields said the funding criteria is broad and he looks forward to seeing both small and large projects apply for Round 3 funding.

“This fund will make a real difference to community projects in Wellington with $1.25M earmarked for the Community Benefit Fund for the first 25 years of operation.”

“It is very pleasing that the first and second round of contributions from the Community Benefit Fund have had a direct financial benefit for community groups and not-for-profit organisations that work so hard in the community, we look forward to seeing what the second round applicants will present,” Councillor Shields said.

Mayor Ben Shields would like to encourage all eligible groups to apply for Round 3 funding.

“I would like to encourage as many groups as possible to consider applying for funding and as many positive projects go ahead as last round.”
