Bronze for Old Dubbo Gaol at NSW Tourism Awards
Dubbo Regional Council Chief Executive Officer Michael McMahon would like to congratulate the team from the Old Dubbo Gaol for receiving Bronze in the Cultural Tourism Category at the NSW Tourism Awards presented under the big top at Sydney’s Luna Park last night.
The Old Dubbo Gaol officially re-opened as a tourist attraction in 1974, and is now completely restored and home to a large display of animatronics and holographic displays which provide a realistic and fascinating insight into a bygone era of prison life.
“We have a wonderful team of staff at the Old Dubbo Gaol that are extremely enthusiastic about delivering a quality and unique experience for their guests. This award is a true reflection of their passion for what they do,” Mr McMahon said.
“The NSW Tourism Awards are presented to the best tourism businesses and services in the State and we had multiple Dubbo businesses nominated.
“I’d like congratulate Manera Heights Apartments for receiving Silver in the Standard Accommodation category.
“Congratulations also go to the Dubbo Visitor Information Centre and Shearing Shed Motor Inn who were a finalists in their respective categories.” Mr McMahon said.
The NSW Tourism Awards’ criteria and categories are set by the Australian Tourism Industry Council (ATIC).
