Dubbo Regional Council welcomes Regional Rail Fleet Announcement
Dubbo Regional Council has welcomed the announcement of planning approval for the new Regional Rail Fleet maintenance facility that will be located in Dubbo.
Member for Dubbo Troy Grant has announced that approval had been gained with a contractor to be appointed early in 2019.
Mayor of the Dubbo Region Ben Shields said the announcement was great news for Dubbo.
“The Regional Rail Fleet maintenance facility is certain to bring a lot of new jobs to the city and that will be a welcome boost to the already booming Dubbo economy,” Councillor Shields said.
“One of Dubbo’s greatest strengths is its diverse range of industry and employment opportunities and this rail facility continues to enhance that.”
The Dubbo facility would be the home base for new XPT, XPLORER and Endeavour trains when they enter the service in early-2020.
Dubbo was able to secure the service because of its location at the end of the regional rail service and range of industry, as well as its training and education facilities.
“We will look forward to seeing this project as it progresses, especially once construction gets underway next year,” Councillor Shields.
