FREE child car-seat checks for parents and carers this Saturday at Autobarn Dubbo
Parents, grandparents and carers are being encouraged to have their child car restraints checked and/or fitted at Dubbo Regional Council’s free ‘Seatbelt Saturday’ event on Saturday 3 November 2018 to ensure their children have the best chance of surviving an accident.
Council’s Road Safety Officer, Jayne Bleechmore said free checks would be available in Dubbo’s Autobarn car park, 36 – 32 Erskine Street, Dubbo from 9.00 am to noon.
“This is a great opportunity for parents and carers to check they are using a compliant ‘Australian Standards’ approved child restraint appropriate for the child’s height.
“As the Christmas school holiday period approaches and parents are planning their holiday destinations, it’s more important than ever to ensure parents and carers have chosen an Australian Standards approved child restraint appropriate for the child’s height.
“Equally important is how the restraint has been secured to the car seat. The road can be a dangerous environment and correctly fitted child restraints give little ones the best chance of surviving a crash,” Ms Bleechmore said.
Ms Bleechmore said the event had become so popular in Dubbo, bookings are essential to guarantee a thorough free check during the ‘Seatbelt Saturday’ morning event.
“Parents and carers can take advantage of this free service and have all their child restraints checked and/or have new car seats properly installed and certified by two Roads and Maritime Services authorised and professional local fitters who will not only check (or fit) restraints but answer any questions parents and carers might have as well,” she said.
Bookings are essential. To make your booking or receive further information please phone council’s Road Safety Officer Jayne Bleechmore on (02) 6801 4000.
