Council joins forces with Family and Community Services upgrade Delroy Park

Mayor of the Dubbo Region Ben Shields is pleased to partner with Family and Community Services (FACS) to deliver much needed improvements to Delroy Park in West Dubbo.

“This park is long overdue for some improvements so I am very pleased that with the support of FACS we can deliver things like accessible path systems, park furniture and sheltered BBQ’s for nearby residents to meet and socialise; an extremely important part of regional living,” said Clr Shields.

FACS has contributed $50,000 to fund the additions as part of the The Social Housing Community Improvement Fund which aims to improve the liveability and amenity of social housing communities.

“The Department of Family and Community Services are proud to partner with Dubbo Regional Council to support local projects. Projects like these are strengthened when different levels of government, local organisations and residents work together,” said Kim Campbell, Manager Housing – Western NSW, FACS.

“Across the program, we’ve seen new children’s playgrounds built, community gardens created, improvements to common areas in social housing blocks, new sporting infrastructure and security upgrades to buildings – all benefiting social housing residents,” said Ms Campbell.

The Delroy Park project is now underway and expected to be complete by April 2019.

The project includes:

  • Installation of 2 Sheltered BBQs

  • Solar lighting system

  • Installation of granite path system

  • 13 Eucalytpus Conica (Fuzzy Box) trees planted
