Dubbo Regional Council’s Dubbo Theatre and Convention Centre nominated for Performing Arts Centre of the Year!

Dubbo Regional Council’s Dubbo Theatre and Convention Centre (DRTCC) has been nominated for the prestigious Drover Awards for Performing Arts Centre of the Year.

The Drover Award for Performing Arts Centre of the Year recognises the achievements of an outstanding presenting organisation and will be awarded to the presenter who provides consistently outstanding production, marketing and management services. In addition, this presenter will have achieved exceptional success in audience development and community engagement.

Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre will stand proudly alongside The Art House Wyong, Merrigong Theatre Company and Queens Park Theatre and finalists in the highly coveted Award.

Mayor of the Dubbo Region Ben Shields, is thrilled with the announcement.

“I’d like to congratulate the DRTCC team on this fantastic announcement. I’ve been told the awards are determined using an Academy Awards approach—judged by the industry rather than a Logies’ approach via popular vote.  I am very proud of the way staff have continued to work diligently over the years on total quality management in all areas of the operation. As a team they are constantly striving for best industry practice—with every team member contributing.

“It is the only industry award of its kind so to be nominated a finalist out of 152 venues nation-wide is an achievement in itself,” Clr Shields said.

The Drover Awards were instigated by Performing Arts Connections (PAC) Australia to recognise excellence in venue management and touring.  The nomination can only come from within the industry of touring producers, cast, crew and tour co-ordinators.

PAC Australia is the national peak body representing performing arts presenters and producers providing leadership and support in best practice, building capacity and strengthening connections between the art and the audience.

The 2019 Drovers Award for the ‘Performing Arts Centre of the Year’ will be announced at the 34th annual PAC Conference Awards Dinner at Caloundra on Thursday 22 August 2019.
