Dubbo Showground Masterplan on display
Dubbo Regional Council is calling for feedback on the draft Masterplan for the Dubbo Showground which is currently on public exhibition.
Mayor of the Dubbo Region Ben Shields said the draft plan is a long-term vision for the development and management of this significant site for the community.
“Our showground is a very well used facility by our community, hosting over 100 events a year, said Clr Shields.
“The draft Masterplan will give Council a set of strategic directions in order to deliver outcomes for current and future needs of the user groups of the site and the wider community,” he said.
Council has engaged external contractor’s @leisure to conduct the planning process and community consultation.
A series of in depth stakeholder engagement workshops have been undertaken with the users of the site to better understand what the needs for the site are now and potential opportunities for the future.
Some keys areas have been identified for change
- Enhanced visitor appeal – (aesthetics and functionality of site)
- Fill the gap in the market for medium sized function centres
- Promote Dubbo’s strength in livestock production and family entertainment
- Improvement in financial and sustainability position of venue
- Greater synergy with the tourism and events strategy
“This site has so many exciting possibilities, I am really looking forward to reviewing the community’s feedback and implementing a plan that will be an asset the whole region can enjoy,” said Clr Shield’s.
