PLENTY OF GREAT BARGAINS WITH GARAGE SALE TRAIL THIS WEEKEND

This weekend the Dubbo region takes on the Garage Sale Trail, and there are some great bargains up for grabs. Dubbo Regional Council (DRC) has spoken to some of the sale hosts who have some incredible items up for sale that are sure to be hot commodities when the sale kicks off on Saturday morning, and runs for the duration of the weekend.

Mark Manton is helping his mum Norma for this year’s sale, and they’ve already started separating their sale items into categories to make shopping just a little bit easier for the trail-shoppers.

“We’ve been waiting all year for the Garage Sale Trail, it’s a great, sustainable way to do a clean out. My dad passed away earlier this year, and so mum is downsizing and we thought this is a great opportunity to make that transition a little easier. We’ll be selling lots of things that mum doesn’t use anymore, and hopefully someone else will be able to find a use for them,” said Mark.

The things for sale in Norma’s Sale would be highly sought-after by that person looking to stock up their shed with tools, and prices start from as low as $2! Norma’s late husband was quite the handyman so there are plenty of tools to choose from, including electrical tools like grinders and drills.

Norma herself has always been interested in arts and crafts so there will also be lots of materials available for people who are interested in making handicraft.

“There are also hard tools like screwdrivers, hammers, and gardening tools. Unfortunately, my mother doesn’t have a use for them anymore, particularly when she downsizes, so if there’s a young tradie or someone just looking to add to their existing equipment, Norma’s Sale will probably have it!” said Mark.

In addition to the tools, there are plenty of good kitchen and household items, along with garden accessories like gnomes and even pot plants – which are having a moment in the spotlight. Another place you’ll find some good pot plants, among other household items, is at Xanthe Clarke’s house. Xanthe has registered a sale for the very first time, and hates waste, so thought the Garage Sale Trail was a great starting point to sell some of her unwanted items.

“I am seriously decluttering, and rather than just throw things away, I thought it would be nice to give them a chance to go to a new home instead. I have lots of things for sale, including small, useful everyday household items which start at $1, to tools, clothes, furniture, and artwork. I also have some horse gear, things for pets, sewing material, and even a collector’s set of hairbrushes!”

In addition to individual sales, there are some group sales happening too, where community groups are getting together in a single location to make it easier for trail shoppers to find a bargain in one location. Groups participating this year include the Dubbo Environment Group and the Dubbo Men’s Shed.
