COUNCIL SUPPORTS EVENTS TO BRING ECONOMIC GROWTH FOR 2022

Dubbo Regional Council (DRC) has provided just over $47,000 to assist in the running of 14 events in 2022 which will deliver in excess of $3.8million across the local economy.

The funding is being delivered through the Community Events Fund which supports events that deliver cultural and social benefits to the region, and the Destination Events Fund which supports those delivering significant economic benefits.

“We are thrilled to be able to provide these funds to support the running of events which help strengthen the cultural and social identity of our region, not to mention the important economic impacts they have,” said Manager Regional Events Kim Hague.

“Providing $35,000 to major events, including two brand new events for the Dubbo region, is estimated to have flow-on effects of up to $3.6 million for our region.

“The impact of COVID-19 on the events and live entertainment industry has been significant. Mass participation events have been hit hard and to have their return in 2022 will not only deliver tourism outcomes for the region, but also provide residents with much needed social and community interaction.

“Events contribute greatly to the well-being and social cohesion of communities, and our region can look forward to a dynamic and diverse range of offerings in 2022.”

The two new events in 2022 are the Dubbo Festival of Athletics in January and the Winter Whiskey Festival to be held in June.
