NEW VICTORIA PARK FITNESS CENTRE OPENS TO PUBLIC
Dubbo Regional Council (DRC) is pleased to announce that the new Victoria Park Fitness Centre will be open for use from Saturday 29 October 2022.
This exciting new $360,000 development occupies the former Livvie’s Playground space.
The Victoria Park Fitness Centre has largely been funded by Dubbo Regional Council through its Asset Renewal Program. However Council would like to recognise the Titan Macquarie Mud Run for its $15,000 contribution towards the fitness equipment.
Three fitness nodes have been created at Victoria Park: Yoga, Strength and Fitness, and a Cardio area. A diverse range of fitness equipment that accommodates a wide range of fitness levels, age groups and abilities is provided.
The Victoria Park Fitness Centre compliments the recently opened playground which has defined youth and junior play areas. Following community consultation, the swings within the Fitness Centre have been renewed for children to enjoy.
DRC Director Culture, Community and Places, Jane Bassingthwaighte, said the playground and new fitness node positioning had been strategically considered.
“Reconfiguring the existing Victoria Park play space to become a dedicated fitness zone, will be ideal for independent fitness, as well as teams that use No. 2 and No. 3 Ovals for training purposes. Coaches can easily integrate equipment use into existing training regimes,” said Ms Bassingthwaighte.
The high-level fitness node comprises cardio, strength and general fitness elements, including multiple cycling/sports bikes, cross trainer, weights (magnetic) and other exercise equipment. The elements will be suitable for all ages and stages of life, including seniors and those with disabilities.
To assist people in safely using the equipment, QR codes are provided that demonstrate the use of the equipment, enabling people to build their own fitness regime. The fitness bikes and cross-trainer link via Bluetooth to a Smart Phone to help monitor and improve your fitness level.
DRC has worked closely with external providers to ensure all three spaces have been designed in accordance with the NSW Government’s “Everyone Can Play Guidelines – How do I get there? Can I stay? Can I play?’’
