ONEROAD TRIAL LAUNCHED AT DUBBO REGIONAL COUNCIL

Dubbo Regional Council (DRC) has switched over to the NSW Government’s OneRoad system, taking part in a trial which will drive information directly from councils through to Live Traffic NSW.

DRC will use the service from 23 January to publish real time information about traffic conditions, incidents, roadwork, hazards and major events, making information easily understandable and readily available for residents around changes to traffic conditions.

Before now DRC maintained information in list form direct to Council’s website.

Under the new system, residents will be able to access the same information that was previously on the website, however it will be done via the Live Traffic portal and map system.

“The new system allows residents travelling across the Local Government Area to have all the information about road closures and road works in one place and in map form,” Mayor of Dubbo Regional Council, Councillor Mathew Dickerson said.

“If other councils pick up the service like DRC has then residents will be able to find all their road information in one place, rather than having to check individual local government areas when they are travelling.”

OneRoad is a cloud-based solution that creates a central hub for publishing information to Live Traffic NSW, helping road users make better, informed decisions to travel safely.

The information provided by DRC feeds through OneRoad and across into third party apps such as Google Maps, Apple Maps, Waze and TomTom.

The new Live Traffic platform is now being utilised by Dubbo Regional Council.
