Dubbo CBD parking campaign underway

In a letter to employees of Dubbo businesses, Mayor Ben Shields and Dubbo Chamber of Commerce president Matt Wright have appealed to workers to use long-term parking options in the Dubbo CBD.

The campaign was launched to encourage staff to leave the prime parking spots for customers, which will improve access and benefit the economy. Maps have been hand-delivered to a number of Dubbo businesses detailing free long-term parking options within the CBD.

This initiative comes a month after Dubbo Chamber of Commerce received complaints from customers and business owners about some employees taking up prime parking spots in front of their premises, often for the entire day.

Mayor Ben Shields believes that this initiative will bring immense benefits to the health and well-being of the local economy.

"I am sure you will agree that we all want to see the CBD thrive and all businesses prosper, and this is a small way that you can drastically improve the accessibility of your business," Cr Shields said.

"Both Dubbo Regional Council and the Chamber of Commerce are dedicated to helping the business community of Dubbo and their employees to thrive not only today, but well into the future."
