Due to the influx of heavy rainfall in a short period of time Dubbo Regional Council (DRC) are receiving a HIGH volume of calls regarding flash flooding, storm water levels and sewer related emergency calls.
Crews are out inspecting roads and erecting signage for appropriate traffic warnings. Please drive with caution to the conditions of the roads. Many rural unsealed roads and urban sealed roads are experiencing water across the surface.
Due to the ongoing extreme and varying rainfall conditions, large volumes of storm water are entering the sewer system, and combined with high residential water/sewer usage, is causing capacity issues for the region’s village, town and city sewer systems.
Council has a number of crews responding to the emergency calls. Calls will be triaged (placed in an order of priority), and Council asks all residents to assist with managing emergency calls by:
* Reducing your water and sewerage usage this evening while the system ‘catches up’ and processes the exceptionally large volumes of water and sewer currently entering the system
* Continue two report sewer emergencies and be mindful that the Council crews responding to calls throughout the night are working their way through the calls
Dubbo Regional Council thanks the community for their understanding during this time of varying and on-going poor weather conditions and increased storm water activity.
