The development of these fields significantly recreational opportunities for local sports, as well as helping to attract major sporting to Dubbo.
The first stage of these works include the levelling of the site, followed by the installation of an irrigation system. During the levelling of the site some dust will be generated. Dubbo Regional Council will employ dust suppression measures in an effort to reduce nuisance dust affecting nearby residences. This stage is expected to be completed by the end of September 2019. The laying of the turf is expected to be complete by the end of October.
To reduce the demand on both the town water supply and the Macquarie River Council will be utilising the backwash water derived from the John Gilbert Water Plant. The capture and reuse of this backwash water for broad scale irrigation purposes has positives outcomes for both the community and the environment.
